Clever and Lazy is a personal finance blog that captures my journey to Financial Independence Retire Early (FIRE).
For the past 20 years, I worked as a highly paid business executive well on my FIRE journey.
And then I was unexpectedly laid off by my company before reaching FIRE!
But instead of returning to the hamster wheel, I’ve decided to do something different. I am seeking part time work, side hustles, or a less demanding full time job to reach FIRE.
Employers tend to pigeon-hole people with a certain track record into a certain job type, but I’m trying to break out of that stereotype.
Read this blog to see if I am successful!
Hopefully this blog will be a resource for others who may be in the same position and trying to do the same.
For those who are curious, the name Clever and Lazy comes from one of my favorite quotes that captures what I learned working at large organizations:
The Person Who is Clever and Lazy Qualifies for the Highest Leadership Posts
– General Kurt von Hammerstein-Equord, 4th Chief of the German Army Command, Weimar Republic
